Prisons opens gap atop Championship Div

T&T Prisons opened a two-points lead at the top of the CNG National Super League Championship Division after a 3-1 whipping of Malabar FC at the D’Abadie Recreation Ground, Arouca on Tuesday.

Starting the day, level with Queen’s Park Cricket Club on 13 points each, T&T Prisons took a 1-0 lead in the 14th minute which it held until the half.

Five minutes after the resumption, Prisons doubled its advantage through a 50th minute an own-goal while Kelvin Ramnath made it 3-0 in the 84th before Richard Ayres got a 90th minute consolation for Malabar.

With the win, T&T Prisons pushed its points tally to 16 points from six matches, two more than Queen’s Park which was held to a 0-0 draw Petit Valley United FC at the Queen’s Park Oval, Tragarete Road.

Third placed Cunupia FC failed to make up significant ground as it too was held to a draw, 2-2 by Saddle Hill Hotspur after leading 2-0.
