Top performances from Darren Samlal and Jonathan Frederick led South to a convincing 123-run victory over South-East in the third round of the T&T Cricket Board 50-over Under-15 Interzone tournament at Sancho Ground in St Julien Village, on Thursday.
Samlal slammed a top score of 85 in the match, while Frederick snatched 4/26 in ten overs. Batting first South posted 289/3 behind Samlal and contributions from Antonio Gomez (68), Tariq Mohammed (46) and Kyle Roopchand (36). Nicholas Ali was the best bowler for South-East grabbing 2/51 in ten overs.
In reply Ali fought hard for South-East with 51, but Frederick’s spell limited South-East to 166 all out in 43 overs. Javed Arjoon pitched in with 36 for South-East, while Tariq Mohammed (2/15) and Vaneer Maharaj (2/28) took two wickets apiece.
