I read with great interest the article by Dr David Bratt of Tuesday, January 12. A most compelling, instructive and informative expose titled Garbage in, Garbage Out. I strongly recommend that piece to all young doctors/interns as well as those who are so inclined to study medicine.
Though I don’t fancy the labels “educated” and “uneducated” as used, I believe I belong to the educated class and I use the services of the public health care system.
In my interaction and observation of the young doctors I could detect a genuine desire to serve but they are woefully lacking in experience, bedside manners and people skills.
They spew a fair amount of theory. Put all those weaknesses together and the result is a person who really doesn’t inspire confidence.
I understand that they all must start their career at some point and as such I believe they have to dig deeper and get a grasp of the real world of medicine.
