Questions about UNC voting

Mr Rampersad Parasram, Chairman of the UNC Internal elections management committee, has stated that the elections were fair. If this is in fact the case, I would appreciate if Mr Parasram could explain or justify what I observed on Saturday at the San Fernando Composite school.

At about 11 am, I turned up to vote in the San Fernando West district. The poll clerk—a petite young lady—sitting next to an equally young man took my credentials for voting. There were three persons in line before me and one person in the polling booth.

The middle-aged female in a black and maroon plaid dress at voting booth no 68 exited and placed the ballot in the box.

Moments later I heard voices behind me as I overhead the same female saying that she thinks that she made an error on the ballot.

To my shock and horror she was sent back to the returning officer for a new form to vote again. I inquired from the young lady if this was allowed, only for her to shrug her shoulders with a confused look.

I voted and hurriedly left the area in disgust as I tried to get away from the stench of activities that were taking place.

I am willing to swear in any court in this land what I observed and heard and also willing to identify persons who were in the room at the time of the incident to prove my claims.

It is little wonder that the majority of the population view the UNC as a corrupt bunch. I call on Mr Parasram to thoroughly investigate this matter and clear it up in public because as long the rest of the population continues to believe that the current leaders of the UNC are dishonest people, they will languish in opposition for a long, long time.
