Unexplained money is flowing into Flow’s bank accounts, drip by drip. How?
Flow should be made to explain to the public, the Government of T&T, Consumer Affairs Division and all other concerned stakeholders the following.
Flow announced this week, price decreases as well as unchanged prices in light of the reduction of VAT from 15 per cent to 12.5 per cent that is to take effect from January 2016.
It is quite incomprehensive why, for some of its products and services they are not decreasing their prices as expected (despite drop in VAT rate). Flow shouldn’t be allowed to stick us with this so easily.
Is it that the base prices for some of their products and services increased and that is why the effect on their VAT is nil? If this is the case, can they need tell us which ones, when did the increase take place, and what are the percentage increases? Are the increases really equal to 2.5 per cent of base cost that nicely matches the 2.5 per cent decrease in the VAT rate?
Some institution needs to verify what they may tell us is true. Anybody can say this or that cost has increased so we have to raise our prices. If we follow this presumed logic then they need to tell us how these increases affect some of their products and not others.
We cannot just sit idly by and accept price increases without an explanation. If they are justifiable, then no problem. But to be told that there will be no reduction despite VAT falling, without any explanation is insulting!
By the way, Flow was asked to stop airing channels they had no permission to use. This is called stealing; another crime by Flow. We got no reduction in fees for this cut in service.
Who will pick up this fight for the public? Will it all be forgotten in seven days time?
