Chin, Gooding win mountain bike titles

Ryan Chin and Maria Gooding won the open and women’s titles respectively in race one of the Tobago International Cycling Classic Mountain Bike Event in Tobago, yesterday.

Chin of the Breakaway Cycling Club, who recently represented T&T at the Caribbean Mountain Bike Championships in Puerto Rico, won the open crown in 41 minutes and 59 seconds (41:59). Chin’s clubmate Christopher Govia was second in 43:39, while Slipstream’s David Hackshaw was third in 47:30 in the event which started and finished at Courland Estate.

Among the women, Gooding of the Rainbow Warriors cruised to victory in 1:02.26, ahead of Carolina Lugo (Global Bikas) in 1:10.21 and Marieke Lubbers (Super Groovers) in 1:12.00.  

Race two of the Mountain Bike Classic will take place today, followed by the third and final race tomorrow. Race two and three will both start and finish at the Arnosvale Water Wheel.
