Where is the NIS Appeal Tribunal and why is this board not fully constituted? I ask these questions because, for the past two years I’ve been in a constant back and forth with the NIB over my pension. I’m sure my case isn’t an isolated one because I’ve encountered many with the same complaint.
I filed for my NIS pension since May, 2013, with 1,100 contributions which is well over the 750 minimum. I have been relentlessly visiting the Princes Town NIB office and on each occasion I am told “Your matter is being investigated.†With no end in sight, I then asked for an interim payment. Although this payment was small, it helped.
Four months after, I decided to file an appeal (September, 2014). Lo and behold, after filing the appeal, the interim payments halted and I am yet to receive an appointment with the NIS Tribunal.
It’s been over two and a half years since I started this antagonistic back and forth with the NIB over my pension so I’m left to wonder, is my pension gaining interest or am I being ostracised?
I think it is downright wrong for the elderly in our society to be left out in the wilderness like this after contributing so much to our society.
I would like to appeal to the relevant authorities to get their act together and stop procrastinating on this issue. Because this, in my opinion, is state-sanctioned robbery of senior citizens.
