Because of the easy access to education now there are those without ambition who do not appreciate that this is the way to succeed in life’s journey to maintain a family and themselves in time to come.
It is so sad now to see students beating teachers. Years ago we had more male teachers, and they were very tough and serious.
There were those like my teacher years ago. His name was Mr Samson and he truly lived up to his name. He was very serious and this is the kind of manpower we now need.
There were days when students were afraid to go to school if they did not do their homework.
Co-education should be discontinued in these schools. The girls should be on one part of the building, and the boys on the other.
The teachers, in spite of their knowledge, must show greater teaching techniques and be very serious in every bit of advice they may impart to the students.
I also believe the headmaster at times should pay impromptu visits to different classes to see what is taking place because the foolishness in these schools must stop immediately.
In these schools there should be a detention centre (as there used to be) where they would have to write a thousand lines why they must behave.
The time has come to stamp out this so-called bad john action in our schools.
There are certain children, irrespective of their social status, who go to learn with a profession in mind.
Then there are those who are not in the least thinking about their future. They just go to the class, give trouble and disturb the ambitious pupils while trying to lead them in the wrong direction.
Since these students are habitual trouble makers, they should not be treated with kid gloves, but be used as examples to show other trouble makers what is in store for them when the law takes its course.
