
A Morvant man was shot in the abdomen this morning after a bandit who broke in his home was upset his victim had no cash and valuables.
According to police reports around 3 am this morning the 33-year-old labourer was at his one room home on Coconut Drive, Morvant when the gunman banged down his door shouting "Police!"
The victim, whose identity was not revealed for fear he will be attacked a second time, was about to open the door when the gunman managed to kick it open. The bandit attempted to rob the man, asking for gold and cash and when the victim said he had neither, he was shot.
Police said the wound is "superficial" and the man is expected to be discharged from the Port of Spain General Hospital today. Officers of the Morvant Police Station are continuing investigations.
