Standardising ministries will save costs

It is my humble suggestion that consideration be given to standardising government ministries for a stipulated number of years. The litany of administrative procedures and the unwarranted costs incurred in respect of the restructuring of ministries with each change in political administration leaves much to be desired.

Consider the costs involved in the re-printing of promotional and professional material, the reconstruction of major infrastructural signs, and the employment and project-related disruptions that arise from the dissolution and/or expansion of ministries.

One is left to wonder whether these unnecessary costs are merely acts of politicking as opposed to streamlining delivery.

The decision to standardise ministries may create long-term stability within the public service, enhance the delivery of service and reduce unnecessary expenditure from the public purse.

To this end, I think it is necessary that the state hold consultations with relevant organisations, facilitate private-public sector engagements, and initiate conversations with interested citizens in order to bring this proposal to the forefront of the national discourse and flagged for implementation thereafter.
