The gross disrespect shown to women and the blatant insensitivity displayed by many towards domestic abuse is something that is unbelievably worrying. I cannot begin to express my immense disappointment with regards to the society we live in nor the justice system that has failed so many people.
Many have been quick to pass judgment, render hypotheses of what you would do if placed in an abusive relationship and the list goes on. If this isn’t indicative of a lack of respect for women, I don’t know what is. Abuse is definitely more than a physical thing and I am astounded that so many people have not rendered their support and attention to victims.
Many of us have at one time or another boasted of being a believer in equality, rebuked criminal activity yet fail to do our part when it comes down to it. The way many of us look at and speak of situations are the true manifestations of our opinions on so many issues and of the socialisation that has undoubtedly resulted in a chaotic and cruel world.
What a sad day indeed, when bacchanal and scandal make more of a story than a severe injustice to not only one woman, but to every victim.
