T&T sprinter Michelle-Lee Ahye stellar season continues as she topped the women’s 60 metres event at Friday’s Reunion Internacional Atletismo en Pista Cubierta event in Madrid, Spain.
Ahye sped to the line in 7.19 seconds to beat Maja Mihalinec of Slovenia into second in 7.27 and third was Spaniard Estella Garcia Villalta in 7.42. Her evening started off well with her easily winning the second semifinal heat in 7.24 ahead of Garcia Villalta (7.43) and Paloma Diez Canete also from Spain (7.66).
Ahye definitely made up for her fourth place finish at the Glasgow Indoor Grand Prix in Scotland, last weekend.
She clocked 7.16 to place behind Dutch sprinter Dafne Schippers, who won with a stadium record of 7.10, Jamaican Elaine Thompson (7.14) and Ewa Swoboda of Poland (7.15). Ahye had placed second the heats, clocking 7.14 to follow Schippers (7.11) to the line.
