
All medical students who have been registered and accepted to enter Medical Schools at UWI – Mona-Jamaica, Cave Hill-Barbados and St George’s University Grenada will receive their funding.
Since the beginning of the semester medical students were told their funding was being denied. A decision by officials of the Government Assistance for Tuition Expenses Programme (GATE) was made not not to pay tuition fees for certain degree programmes.
A release from the Ministry of Education stated: “With Immediate effect, the Government of Trinidad and Tobago is prepared to fund all medical students who have been registered and accepted to enter the Medical Schools at Mona and Cave Hill Campuses.”
