Rivers Of Asia is napped (again!) for a five-runner 3-y-o Maiden Stakes over an extended mile of Wolverhampton Tapeta tonight; last week trainer Philip McBride’s withdrew this thrice-raced, 78-rated, Medicean colt hours before due to make a much-awaited seasonal debut.
We don’t know the reason why but this could represent a favourable situation; obviously Rivers Of Asia was considered nigh on ready to re-appear but since would definitely have been ‘worked’ and so, it stands to reason, he’ll be ‘one gallop’ sharper.
On my time-handicap this is a tasty race because obvious favourite will be once-raced, John Gosden-trained Dangerous Thought, favourite fifty-one days ago when six lengths third to Hombre Rojo on Lingfield polytrack; he needs to improve and so does Jintshi having his third run for Mark ‘winning machine’ Johnston but there could be a ‘fly in the ointment’ because Carry Me Home is rated ‘useful!’
Carry Me Home improved on a satisfactory debut run, despite being drawn widest in a fast-run race won by by Little Kipling at Lingfield 108 days ago, beaten less than two lengths. That was an encouraging effort.
‘You can’t beat the draw’and Carry Me Home never looked likely to but went into a clutch of note-books as a ‘next time’ prospect.
Danny Tudhope will be the fourth different jockey to ride Rivers Of Asia, none better; his association with David O’Meara has been sensational and that is a ‘firm’ to follow during 2016 because the Northern-based yard has further expanded and smacks of quality.
Well-regarded Sabaani is declared for the Maiden Stakes over ten furlongs around Lingfield; judged on his debut just over seven weeks ago this will be a procession and James Tate’s charge should be backed accordingly. George Baker rides.
