Fire will go after its second win in as many matches in the Alternative Division when it takes on Prisons, which also began the season successfully winning its opening match, 48-15 over the University of the West Indies (UWI), this afternoon in the All Sectors Netball League.
This will be at the Eastern Regional Indoor Sports Arena in Tacarigua from 5.30 pm in the first match of a double-header. Following soon after from 6.45 pm, UWI will be seeking its first victory of the season when it meets the University of the Southern Caribbean (USC), who also lost its opener. It suffered a huge 45-goal (67-22) loss to TSTT.
The Fire unit will bank on Cameisha Leslie to come good once again as she did against Police, leading the shooting with 26 goals from 33 attempts in its 34-27 triumph. Leslie will rely on goal-attack Kylar Rocke to give her much assistant in the circle.
However, they will compete against highly capable shooters in Rhonita Williams and Fatima Buckmire, who scored the bulk of Prison’s goals in their team’s lopsided victory.
On Thursday, another Fire Services team will be in action in the Championship Division, looking to hold off Bermudez. This will follow the first match between USC and Prisons.
Fire pulled off a narrow 28-27 win over the University of T&T (UTT) on Saturday thanks to the brilliance of goal-shooter Aquila Blugh, who netted a game-high 26 off 39 in a match which UTT led in the three periods, 8-5, 16-10 and 21-17.
Blugh with support from goal-attack Ayanna Peters (2/3) were able to outscore the UTT unit 11-6 in the final session. This will be Bermudez first match of the season.
