We must slow this economic free fall but we must do it sensibly.
Instead of penalizing our families with retrenchment, we must first stop the typical wasteful spending, an example being those exorbitant unoccupied property rentals. One such wasteful rental is #1 Alexander Street of which it is alleged a key public figure has an interest.
Already our people have spent more in rental than the cost of constructing this property and we have never occupied it! Regardless of the ownership, this is a colossal waste and the rental cost could have saved the jobs of literally thousands. Unless we stand and work together as one people, there is no future for our vulnerable island speck in a global economy of giants. As my grandmother said, we must save for the rainy day.
