The Media Association of T&T seeks to correct inaccurate statements published in a letter to the editor, headlined, Different strokes from Matt, (T&T Guardian, Saturday, January 9, 2015).
In that letter, Rosalind Sami of Upper Santa Cruz, states that Matt made comment on the recent Chris Gayle issue while remaining silent on issues of sexual harassment within T&T’s media. This is not so.
For further clarification, Ms Sami might refer to the statement, Conflicts of interest and sexual harassment, (Sunday, August 9, 2015) published across the broadcast and print media and available on the association’s Facebook page.
We additionally direct Ms Sami to Matt’s comments on sexual harassment in T&T’s media made during an interview on CNC3’s The Morning Brew (Tuesday, January 5, 2016).
Matt continues to call for media houses to develop and implement clear guidelines and policies to protect journalists and media workers from sexual harassment faced on the job.
