Invest in Rahyah for rewards

Rahyah and Mockinbird both race for a third time in an ‘aged’ Maiden Fillies’ Stakes over a mile of Chelmsford polytrack today; they are similary-rated on my time-handicap but, for several reasons, preference is for the William Haggas-trained Acclamation three-year-old, a beaten-favourite on Lingfield ‘poly’ last month.

Significant was her improvement and Rahyah tackles an extra furlong with plenty of confidence given a genuine finishing effort; only half a length separated the principals.

Stable-apprentice Nathan Allison claims a 3lbs allowance, equivalent to more than a length.

Mockinbird represents Sir Mark Prescott’s Newmarket yard, less than a mile from the Haggas household; both remain fierce competitors and champion all-weather jockey, Luke Morris, returns from a brief holiday.

This Makfi filly was also runner-up three weeks ago when beaten only a neck by Silk Gem over seven furlongs of this course; again extra distance shouldn’t be a problem.

Silk Gem is trained by Haggas!

There are four newcomers from ‘fashionable’ yards and the betting market should be fascinating but providing all eight ‘decs’ go to post Rahyah looks a solid first leg of our each-way double.

Second is Fire And Passion one of eleven ‘decs’ for the Maiden Stakes over a mile of Kempton polytrack; this one should be ‘in the frame’ by default.

Remember the point of each-way doubles (the best bets!) is getting both placed; if the first succeeds we lay off the win on Betfair betting exchange, never be greedy!

Our daily patent also includes Bank Of Gibraltar in the Maiden Stakes over seven furlongs of Wolverhampton Tapeta, trained by ex-champion jockey whose tally has quickly risen to nine.

Bank Of Gibraltar is dropped back in trip, expect jockey Shane Kelly to be positive!
