Bottom of the table Club Sando and Morvant Caledonia United are confident of rebounding from their poor start to the 2015/2016 Digicel TT Pro League campaign.

The league will resume from its Christmas break on Tuesday and both teams will clash in a re-scheduled match at he Ato Boldon Stadium, Couva from 6 pm.

Club Sando are winless to date after seven matches under coach Anthonty Streete and lay bottom of the ten-team standings with just one point while seasoned campaigners Caledonia have just one victory and a draw to their name in seven games for a maximum of four points.

Under coach Jerry Moe they have also lost five matches for the season and are in an awkward position at second-to-last.

They are anxious to rebound from their position and need a win badly to begin their elevation from the bottom two in the standings.

Yesterday, Jamaal Shabazz, the technical director at Caledonia Morvant United, described it as a challenging period in the future of the club.

Under the new coach, the club faced a total revamp during the pre-season and are yet to catch themselves from the many changes made so far.

He said: “It is a season where we have to put our shoulders to the wheel and show strong character.”

Shabazz said: “I believe football problems must have football solutions. We are going to urge the players to take responsibility to solve problems on the field, and no better place to start than against Club Sando.”

Shabazz, who also the head coach of regional neighbours Guyana, made it clear experienced players Stephan David, Akim Armstrong and Marcus Ambrose, who all underwent surgery on their knees, have been showing improvement with their fitness and will be returning to the fray soon.

They are expected to add some much needed experience to the team.

The Caledonia technical director also said the club would look at making use of the mid-season transfer window which runs from January 29 to February 26.

Club Sando technical director Muhammad Isa said he intends to use all the options available to him to show the worth the team has in local football.

He believes the time has come for the club to show its worth in the pro league.

Isa said: “When we were in the Super League and competed against Pro League clubs in the Cup competitions, we were competitive. But we started as a fresh team in the Pro League this season against experienced teams at this level and didn’t have the type of preparation.

“Now, for 2016, I expect things to change for the positive. We hope to change things around, but we need our players to show a little more appetite, beginning with the game against Caledonia.”
