Not a bin downtown

I could not help but notice the absence of badly-needed garbage bins in downtown PoS last week. Not being a regular visitor to the area, I was walking along with a bottle of water that I had purchased from one of the many convenient roadside vendors with coolers, and having finished it, was looking for somewhere to dispose of the empty bottle (other than in the drain as most people do.)

I looked around—no bin; crossed the road and walked a bit, no bin; corner of Queen and Henry streets, no bin. No wonder people throw them on the roadside.

Believe me, if they are there, they are very well disguised. I eventually resorted to going into one of the fabric stores on Queen Street and asked the cashier to put it in the bin there. Good citizen deed done for the day.

It should be a simple plan to install bins on the corners. At least two on each intersection. And please, not together on the same corner.

Make sure the bins are plastic though, as metal is in high demand these days, if you know what I mean.

W Dopson,

Woodbrook
